From the image, the papaya fruits show many small dark, corky spots and scab-like lesions, especially on the ripening fruit. This indicates papaya black spot / anthracnose complex (fungal disease), often worsened by high humidity and poor air circulation.

What’s happening
The black/brown sunken spots are fungal infections attacking the fruit surface
The disease becomes more visible as fruits start turning yellow
It reduces market quality though flesh inside may still be edible.

Wet conditions / overhead irrigation
Poor pruning and airflow
Infected plant debris left in the field

(Control & Prevention)
Spray fungicides alternately:
Copper-based fungicide
Mancozeb or Chlorothalonil
Improve field sanitation (remove infected fruits)
Avoid wetting fruits when irrigating
Ensure proper spacing and airflow
